I have a new song on repeat. “Hallelujah, Even Here” by Lydia Laird.
Chorus
Hallelujah, when the storm is relentless
Hallelujah, when the battle is endless
In the middle of the in between
In the middle of the questioning
Over every worry, every fear
Hallelujah, even here
Hallelujah, even here
In the middle of the in between.
In between problem and solution.
Start and finish.
Beginning and end.
Fear and peace.
Grief and joy.
Diagnosis and healing.
Crucifixion and resurrection.
We will all have a lot of “in between” times in our lives.
Time and wisdom have taught us that circumstances will change and most situations will come to a conclusion.
What we do with the “in between” determines our attitude. We can wallow in it or we can learn from it. The older and wiser I get, I hope to lean into the in between and experience it, feel it, and seek God in it. So, in the middle of the in between I will sing hallelujah, even here.
Hallelujah is defined: God Be Praised.
God Be Praised, when the storm is relentless
God Be Praised, when the battle is endless
In the middle of the in between
In the middle of the questioning
Over every worry, every fear
God Be Praised, even here
God Be Praised, even here
The women at RGM are in the most monumental period of “in between” of their lives.
Prisoner and citizen.
Rejection and acceptance.
Estrangement and reconciliation.
Bondage and freedom.
Addiction and recovery.
Fear and peace.
Anxiety and calm.
Tears and laughter.
Bitterness and forgiveness.
Pain and joy.
Death and resurrection.
So many tears and so much laughter. So much pain and glimpses of joy. So much healing.
You are making a difference in the Kingdom of God.
Your support is drawing them with loving kindness. You are showing them that there is resurrection on the other side of this in between. You are transforming lives.
God Be Praised, Hallelujah.
